Dennis Cockell - Returns to The Diamond Jacks Rock n Roll Tattoo Parlour

This month marks the return of legendary inksmith Dennis Cockell to the iconic premises of ‘Diamond Jacks’ that he owned in the 80s, located in the heart of London’s Soho in the shadow of Raymond’s Revue Bar.

It’s fifty years since Cockell first took to the needle in his home town of Worcester, embarking on an artistic journey that saw him build a strong reputation for his creative designs and flawless execution from his home studio at 265A Finchley Road.

With the patronage of fellow artists and musicians, Cockell’s coveted designs came to adorn the bodies of members of bands as diverse as The Sex Pistols, Stray Cats and Bananarama.

To mark a half-century as an elite practitioner of the art of skin, Dennis is aiming to complete at least fifty new tattoos during his fifty day residency at Diamond Jacks.

Dennis spoke to Mark Taylor, for Decibel Report, about his career, memorable moments and the great and the good that he’s met along the way.
