Steve Hogarth and Steve Rothery - 'Marillion with Friends from the Orchestra' - the album, the tour and more

The lead voice and guitarist from progressive rock icons Marillion talk to Decibel Report’s Andy Rawll about the band's forthcoming tour (November 2019) and new studio CD that features re-recordings of nine tracks from across their career, both enhanced by six-piece mini-orchestra of horns and strings.

‘Estonia’ - premier preview track from ‘Marillion With Friends From The Orchestra’.

The Steves reflect on their respective anniversaries with the band: Hogarth at thirty and Rothery at forty years, since joining the band and recall their acclaimed show at London's Royal Albert Hall in November 2017, which was released on DVD as ‘All One Tonight’.

They consider the evolution of the lyrical themes in recent album releases as well as discuss the way the band approaches the creative process in the studio. This includes a perspective on their past respective solo side-projects, including 'Ice Cream Genius' and 'The Ghosts of Pripyat'.

Finally, they reflect on the band's role as a pioneer in the use of the internet to promote and market the band, as early as 1999 at the time of the Marillion.com album. This paved the way in 2001 for the milestone 'Anoraknophobia' album, when they finally took full control of their artistic destiny, as an independent and label-free band.

The first preview track from: ‘Marillion with Friends from the Orchestra’: 'Estonia' has just been released. A ‘Behind the Scenes’ video on the recording of the album is also available. This latest CD and other merch, including the ‘All One Tonight’ DVD, are available from Marillion’s Racket Records’ Store.
